Governor Wike, thousands attend RCCG’s Port Harcourt Holy Ghost rally

Governor Nyesom Wike, his wife, Eberechi Suzette, the deputy governor, Ipalibo Harry-Banigo were among thousands of Rivers residents on Sunday January 29, trooped out to the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt, for the Port Harcourt Holy Ghost rally of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) where its worldwide General Overseer, Enoch Adeboye ministered.  Others were the Speaker of the Rivers House of Assembly, Ikuinyi-Owaji Ibani and members of the Rivers State executive council, where
Preaching on the theme: “The Almighty,” Adeboye, who recently stepped down as Nigeria’s general overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God, said that God has the capacity to turn any situation around; and called on the people to always look unto God for their blessings; pointing out that the 2017 Holy Ghost rally would lead to several testimonies.
He prayed for Governor Wike, his government and the people of Rivers State. The cleric also prayed for Nigeria, which has been grappling with recession since last year, on account of zero Gross Domestic Product growth for more than one quarter.
Adeboye said: “Father I commit everyone here today in your hand. Make the impossible, possible.  Father, bless Rivers State.  Bless our governor, bless his family and bless his government.  Father, bless Nigeria.” A thunderous shout of ‘Amen’ rented the air inside the capacity crowd Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium along Port Harcourt – Owerri highway.
In his remarks, Governor Wike described himself as a direct beneficiary of the 2016 Holy Ghost rally of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, which led to the validation of his election by the nation’s Supreme Court.
Recall that it was immediately after the RCCG Port Harcourt rally in January last year that the Supreme Court ruled in favour of Governor Wike, validating his election in the April 2015 governor election in Rivers State.
He noted that his administration has started fulfilling his promise of constructing the Obiri-Ikwerre Road, which is serving as an alternative route to the Port Harcourt International Airport road near the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium.
The governor also assured that the Rivers State Ecumenical Centre under construction for the unity of the state, would be completed and commissioned in May 2017 as part of activities to mark the Golden Jubilee celebration of the state. Rivers was created in May 1967 by the Yakubu Gowon military administration.
The Holy Ghost rally witnessed special Christian renditions by the Redeemed Christian Church of God mass choir, while the Pastor-in-charge of RCCG Region 5, Belemina Obunge, said by reason of the Holy Ghost rally 2017, many people would have spectacular testimonies as the year unfolds.
