Akwa Ibom PDP disclaims Udom as political leader

The Peoples Democratic Party in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State has disclaimed a former Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Udom Ekpoudom, as its political leader.
According to report, the party members, in a meeting in the area on Saturday, warned against inordinate aspirations by those they described as selfish individuals or groups.
The PDP stakeholders in the area, however, unanimously endorsed Sir Archibong Akpan as their political leader.
The development was sequel to recent political developments in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area, where a faction of the party, during a meeting at Uruk Ata Ikot Ebo, declared Ekpoudom as the new political leader.
Meanwhile, a former chairman of Etim Ekpo LGA, Mr. Ukpe Udoaka, has called for support for Governor Udoh Emmanuel, to be re-elected for a second term.
Udoaka said this was the stakeholders’ resolution at a meeting, where all the issues affecting the party in Etim Ekpo LGA were considered.

He added, “There is no vacancy in the political leadership of Etim Ekpo LGA. The only known and acceptable political leader of Etim Ekpo is Obong (Sir) A. S. Akpan, a.k.a Apex.
“Accordingly, we do hereby denounce and reject Mr. Udom Ekpoudom as the political father or father of modern politics in Etim Ekpo LGA.

We vehemently disassociate ourselves and the entire PDP family in Etim Ekpo LGA completely and totally from the self-serving so-called ‘political fatherhood‘ of Mr. Udom Ekpoudom or any other person in his like for that matter.”
